December Events in Wine Country

The last month of 2017 doesn’t disappoint when it comes to local events.  From crab feeds to Holiday concerts, Santa runs to lighting ceremonies, there is something for everyone to enjoy during the month of December in Wine Country.

Annual Lighting of the Snowmen Festival (December 2)
This year, the Lighting of the Snowmen kicks off with a festival and actual lighting on December 2nd and the display will remain up through the end of December for all to enjoy!  This Cornerstone classic will feature music, kids’ crafts, wine + beer tasting, warm drinks, delicious food, festive decorations and more! San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus “Home for the Holidays” – A Benefit for Face to Face (December 2)
“Home For The Holidays” is an incredible holiday celebration, full of humor, personality, and gorgeous choral music. SFGMC’s performance features classic holiday favorites, alongside some new works that are sure to warm your heart and get you in the festive mood.Net proceeds support F2F’s mission of ending HIV in Sonoma County while also caring for clients affected by the recent firestorms. 17th Annual Windsor Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting (December 7)
Begin your holiday season with graceful horse-drawn carriages, music fun and even a visit from Santa, all at Windsor Town Green. More information can be found here.

Santa Rosa SantaCon (December 9)
Grab your Santa hat and get as festive as you want as we support local businesses and continue to raise money for fire victims across Sonoma County. More information can be found here.

Oyster Shucking Workshop at SHED (December 9)
Explore the wonderful world of oysters with our chef and culinary educator in this oyster tasting and shucking demonstration. You’ll learn about the history, flavor profile, and preparation of oysters and why they make the perfect appetizer for your holiday gathering. More information can be found here.

Holiday Lighted Boat Parade (December 9)
A flotilla of decorated boats make a spectacular arrival at the Petaluma River Turning Basin in the heart of historic downtown; Arriving about 6:15pm. More information can be found here.

Tides Wharf Crab Feed Series (December 15)
The Annual Crab Feed Series at The Tides Wharf Restaurant in Bodega Bay features chilled Dungeness crab, cocktail sauce, drawn butter, Tides’ mustard sauce, clam chowder, pasta, green salad, and French bread. Reservations are recommended.  A Sonoma County tradition.  More information can be found here.

Dave Koz 20th Anniversary Christmas Concert with David Benoit, Rick Braun and Peter White (December 17)
This year’s 20th anniversary tour promises to be extra-special, reuniting Koz with two members of the original lineup – David Benoit and Peter White – and Rick Braun, a guest on many of Dave’s holiday jaunts, dating back to the early years. Newcomer Selina Albright will also join in the festivities. Together, the five remarkable artists will perform fresh renditions of Christmas classics as well as a Chanukah medley and hits from their respective catalogs.  More information can be found here.

Christmas Eve Dinner at John Ash & Co. (December 24)

Happy New Year, Charlie Brown! (December 31)
Ring in the New Year with hands-on crafts for kids, Santa Rosa’s only Up-Down and Baby Balloon drops at Noon, and root beer toasts at Noon and 3:00 pm! Great fun for the little ones before the adults head out for the evening. More information can be found here.

December Events in Wine Country

As the region transitions from fall to winter, the Wine Country events calendar doesn’t disappoint.  From Santa Runs to holiday open houses, boat parades to holiday performance, there is something for everyone to enjoy during the month of December.

Dining Out For Life (December 1)
Famous for its incredible food scene, it should take little prompting to dine out at 90 amazing eateries on Thursday, December 1, with 25–50% of your purchase going directly to Food For Thought’s life-giving medically tailored meals and nutritional programs. More information can be found here.

Santa Rosa Santa Run (December 3)
Celebrate the holidays as the Santa Rosa Santa Run offers a day of fun for the whole family with a 5k Run/Walk (timed) and Merry Mile (not timed), and a festive finish in Downtown Santa Rosa with cookies, milk, music and snow.  All participants are encouraged to dress up as Santa Claus (one Santa suit is provided per registration entry) or one of your favorite holiday characters or traditions. Costume ideas include Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, the Grinch, reindeer, elves, dreidels, menorahs, ornaments, trees, and candlesticks. More information can be found here.

Luther Burbank Home and Garden Holiday Open House (December 3-4)
Enjoy a 37-year tradition and begin the season’s celebrations by visiting the historic Home and Gardens of Luther Burbank. Experience a charming reminder of bygone days when you tour the home decked out in old-fashioned holiday finery inside and out. More information can be found here.

Christmas at The Mission (December 10)
Experience The Mission San Francisco Solano in Sonoma as it may have looked centuries ago. Sing Christmas carols and enjoy the Mission and Barracks lit by luminaries. Tickets will be available two weeks prior to the event and there is no charge but donations are encouraged. More information can be found here.

Mayacama Member Holiday Party (December 11)
The Wilhelm family would like to sincerely thank you for your active Club participation throughout the year by inviting members to our annual Holiday Party at the Club. You and your family will enjoy a festive open house of casual mingling with fellow Members, music, lots of sweet and savory nibbles, passed hors d’oeuvres, amazing wine, festive cocktails, and photo opportunities galore. Holiday Lighted Boat Parade (December 17)
Watch a magical parade of beautifully decorated boats stream into the Petaluma River Turning Basin in the heart of historic downtown Petaluma.  After the show, be sure to check out the City of Lights Driving Tour, a self-guided tour of beautifully decorated homes and businesses throughout Petaluma. Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker (December 18)
The biggest Christmas experience of the year! The original, direct from Russia, Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker! Enchant the whole family with larger than life magical props, a 60 foot growing Christmas tree and spectacular Russian-made costumes and sets. More information can be found here.

Dave Koz Christmas Tour (December 20)
Saxophonist Dave Koz is one of the most recognizable and acclaimed figures in contemporary jazz. Joining him for this holiday spectacular are R&B superstars Valerie Simpson, Jonathan Butler, and Kenny Lattimore. . More information can be found here.

First Annual Bubble Ball (December 31)
