Go Behind The Scenes with Daniel Hildebrand at Mayacama

Let’s face it. Everyone enjoys a friendly, familiar face. One of the reasons that members invest in Mayacama is because the staff is here to greet you time and time again. Over the years, relationships have been formed and friendships created between the Mayacama team, guests, neighbors and members. Each lifestyle section of our resort features consummate professionals in their industry that are happy to answer questions and lend a tip. Over the next several months we’ll be introducing you to Mayacama team members and sharing a behind the scenes look at the Mayacama lifestyle. We interviewed Daniel Hildebrand, Director of Residences at Mayacama, for a closer look at the residential side of the resort and what attracts buyers to invest in fractional and whole ownership at our resort:

What do you find is the most compelling reason people choose to become part of Mayacama?
I believe the most compelling reason members have become a part of Mayacama is the outstanding golf program that has been fostered into place by our Head Golf Professional, Ted Antonopoulos. From the physical course itself, to the locker room experience, the maintenance of the grounds, and the friendliness of the staff, it all comes together to make a lasting impression that our members get to relive again and again.

The 3 things that owners in the Residence Club are most surprised to discover at Mayacama are:
The Residence Club members enjoy the scope of demographic of Residence owners. From young families to retired couples, people of all ages and backgrounds have come to call Mayacama their home in wine country.

Members are pleasantly surprised by the abundance of activities offered through our Mayacama Kid’s Summer Camp. Petting zoos, Magic Camp, and Jr. Golf Boot Camp are just some of the programs offered by our team!

While people understand that California offers great weather, Residence Club Members have come to welcome the temperate climate all 12 months of the year. Never too hot, never too cold the Residence Club Members will find themselves enjoying a refreshing glass of white wine in the middle of August while also snuggled up with a sheep skin blanket in the middle of January. Anytime is a good time to reside at Mayacama.

3 favorite design features of Mayacama Residences:
I love that Residence Club Members have the option to utilize a One-Bedroom Casita or a Three-Bedroom Villa. While the Three Bedroom Villa is the perfect spot for hosting 3 couples, or housing the entire family – a One Bedroom Casita makes the perfect spot for an intimate weekend getaway.

The Harvest Room in our Three-Bedroom Residences is a living space that functions unlike any other room. With just 3 walls, this room offers an option to embrace the outdoor beauty of Sonoma County, while including the amenities of a traditional gathering space.

The beauty and intricacy of the Residences is something very special. Inspired by the Mediterranean/Tuscan architecture, the clay tile roofs, heavy stucco, archways, and authentic landscaping seemingly to transforms you into a true Italian Villa.

Locals know best. Share someplace in Sonoma County that you’d recommend to guests/why:
For families, I love Safari West! An authentic safari adventure, Safari West offers guests something they would never expect in the heart of “Wine Country.” With giraffes, buffalo, and zebras, the family will feel like they have had their own personal zoo brought to them in Sonoma County.

We have a great local dining scene, but everyone has their favorites. What is your favorite nearby restaurant?
With so many options to pick a favorite is impossible. Persimmon (Healdsburg) is a restaurant I just recently tried and I was blown away!

What dish do you recommend? Their Seven Spice brisket was something I did not expect to find on the menu. My favorite thing was Flat Iron steak with house made kimchee and fried rice.

For those who are lucky enough to return time and time again, share one of your favorite, local summertime activities or events with us:
Summer Nights on the Green in Windsor is always a great time! The live music, local food tents, and regional crafts are always entertaining for 3 – 4 months out of the Year!

Red or White: Rose

Favorite Mayacama menu item: Crispy Chicken Breast and Thigh

5 things I can’t live without: My Dog (Mojeaux), My Family, Beer, Cheese, Coffee

Best part of my job: The team at Mayacama

10 Reasons We Love Mayacama Life

There are so many reasons to love life at Mayacama. From its prime location to amazing amenities, we’re showcasing the top 10 reasons we enjoy life at Wine Country’s premiere resort community.

675 Acres of Classic California Wine Country
Your very own sprawling spot in the heart of Wine Country has to top the list. Sonoma County offers some of the most picturesque settings in Northern California, whether taking in rolling hills of grape vines and the colors they bring, exploring the charm and character of one of its many quaint towns or enjoying outdoor activities in a lovely natural setting. It’s hard to believe such a tranquil location exists amazingly close and within easy reach of the buzz of an international city.

Easy Access to San Francisco City Life
We’d be amiss if we didn’t highlight Mayacama’s close proximity to San Francisco. Just over an hour away the City by The Bay offers a variety of entertainment and cultural venues coupled with its incredible food scene. If you find yourself heading into the City, be sure to visit this popular travel site showcasing all that San Francisco has to offer.

A Day Trip to Lake Tahoe’s Year-Round Playground
Whether enjoying world-class skiing at Squaw Valley, Heavenly and Northstar or spending a fun-filled summer weekend on the water, Lake Tahoe is your playground at elevation and is less than a 4 hour trip from Mayacama.

The Raw Beauty of the Sonoma Coastline
The rugged majesty of the Sonoma coastline is easy to reach from Mayacama. Visitors escape to this remote destination to unwind, relax and take in some of the more scenic sights along this barely touched coastline. You can also travel back in time with a visit to the early Russian establishment at Fort Ross, an outpost engaged in hunting and trading.

World Class Dining with a Farm to Table Twist
Enjoy the casual elegance that Wine Country has to offer with its variety of farm-fresh dining options throughout the region. Whether you choose an elegant, formal setting or a casual family-friendly venue, there is something for everyone when it comes to dining in Wine Country. In fact, the Michelin Guide recently released its 2016 stars for the San Francisco Bay Area, and ‪ Wine Country ranked very high compared to the rest of the region. When planning your next stay at ‪Mayacama, add these local stars to your list and experience some of the very best fine dining in Wine Country.

No Club Celebrates Golf and Wine like ‪Mayacama
Of course, we are a bit partial when it comes to golf courses. Our Jack Nicklaus Signature course is unequivocally one of his finest. GOLF.com ranks Mayacama #9 among the “19 Best 19th Holes”. Saying, “It boasts (35+) vintner-members, including the folks who produce Cakebread Cellars Chalk Hill Estate Winery and Silver Oak Cellars. Each vintner provides special tastings each year — the better to help members cope with a Jack Nicklaus design that’s so tough, it would drive anyone to pop a second cork.” However, if you do find yourself along the California coast, there are a number of outstanding public courses in Pebble Beach and Santa Cruz, an easy drive from Mayacama.

Pedal Heaven – 2-Wheeled Nirvana
Recreational bicycling options abound in the region. Enjoy scenic and winding roads as you tour the landscape of Wine Country on 2-wheels. Our Concierge can set you up with group bike tours or recommend the very best trails for those novice to recreational riders. For the competitors out there, Levi’s GranFondo is both a challenging and competitive mass-start cycling event hosting riders of all ability levels from around the world.

Rejuvenation -Hot Springs and Spa Central
Our region is known for its health spas, drawing visitors from across the globe. Unwind onsite. The Spa at Mayacama offers an experienced team of massage therapists and estheticians who deliver rejuvenating treatments for body, mind and spirit. For those looking for a nearby spa outing, head over the hill to nearby Calistoga, a town made famous by their geothermal hot springs.

A Kid-Friendly Location
If you have little ones, there are a number of venues to keep them engaged and entertained. In addition to the family-friendly onsite pool, golf and tennis courts, Maycama offers a great line-up of kid-friendly events planned year-round for our wee members. Thoughtfully created for different age groups up to 14 years old, the Mayacama Juniors’ Club features year-round activities that are anything but ordinary. There’s trapeze adventure at the Russian River Circus School. Kids can learn about the magic of filmmaking and special effects with an industry expert. Experience life on the Savannah at Safari West or skate ‘til you drop at Snoopy’s Home Ice. If they still have energy after the skating adventure, head over to the adjacent Charles M. Schultz Museum and explore the world of the man who brought us the Peanuts Comic Strips.

An Event for Every Season
There are a number of events and festivals throughout the year. From wine and harvest, food to film, there is something for everyone to enjoy. A few examples of local events in the upcoming months are the Annual Olive Festival, California Artisan Cheese Festival, Sonoma International Film Festival and Savor Sonoma County- A Barrel Tasting & Culinary Experience. The list goes on and on… At Mayacama, you are never short of memorable life-long experiences to share with friends and family.
