July Events in Wine Country

The summer Wine Country event scene has hit the ground running, with a variety of venues that doesn’t disappoint. July offers a number of events the whole family will enjoy;  from Independence Day celebrations to river festivals, beer fests to music festivals, summer is coming to Wine Country in a big way.

Fireworks Over Bodega Bay – July 2
Celebrate Independence Day in Sonoma County with a spectacular firework display over Bodega Bay! The show starts at dark, around 9:30 p.m. Remember to layer as it can get chilly on the coast. More information can be found here.

Sonoma’s 4th of July on the Plaza – July 4
Named the eighth best 4th of July celebrations in the country by Travel+Leisure Magazine & Yahoo News, Sonoma’s 4th of July Celebration is a tradition that brings the community together in all that makes Sonoma great and honors our great nations independence. Enjoy parades, marching bands and fun floats. On the historic plaza, you’ll find live music and games all day long along with food, beer, and wine. At dusk, find a spot for the fireworks show. Flynn Creek Circus in Santa Rosa – July 7-9
Having thrilled audiences all over the world, the Flynn Creek Circus presents an exciting new show for 2017!  Experience a unique story told by the world class character clowns and ringmasters as they bring you tightrope walkers, aerialists, jugglers, acrobats, and more! Wine Country Big Q – BBQ Competition and Festival – July 8
Featuring pit masters from throughout the West Coast, the 6th Annual Wine Country Big Q BBQ Competition and Festival is a nationally sanctioned competition with mouth-watering “authentic” barbecued meats, world class wines, award winning brews and delectable desserts. Rodney Strong Summer Concert Series – Chris Isaak – July 8
The 27th Annual Rodney Strong Summer Concert Series presented by Montgomery Village features great entertainers, award-winning wines, and local food purveyors. Surrounded by stunning wine country scenery, concert-goers are treated to intimate, unforgettable musical performances in a picturesque, summertime setting. More information can be found here.

The GMC’s Annual Bluegrass Festival – July 9
The GMC’s Third Annual Bluegrass Festival has become an annual favorite in Sonoma County. This year’s event features Del and Dawg Bluegrass Band, Mark O’Connor and the O’Connor Family Band, and Sierra Hull.  More information can be found here.

Bastille Day Dinner – July 14
Celebrate French gastronomy with Jordan’s first-ever Bastille Day dinner party celebration, hosted on France’s Independence Day, also known as La Fête Nationale.  More information can be found here.

Rivertown Revival – July 22
This local community festival highlights the Petaluma River and all of the amazing artists who call Sonoma County home. The fun event includes an art boat race and parade, floating art barges and an all-day festival which features local music, art, food and drink, and fabulous local vendors.  More information can be found here.

Free Movies on the Green – July 22
Spend a summer’s evening with two of Disney’s best loved princesses, The Little Mermaid (1989) and Moana (2016), on the Weill Lawn at the Green Music Center.  More information can be found here.

Breakfast with the Winemakers – July 28-29
Join winemakers from Martinelli, Inman Family Wines and Hook & Ladder Vineyards & Winery for a casual breakfast Q & A on July 28th. On July 29th join winemakers from Fritz Underground Winery, J Rickards Winery and Deux Amis Winery for a casual breakfast Q & A.  More information can be found here.

Fort Ross Festival – July 29
Enjoy a multicultural celebration with live music and dance, food bazaar, beer garden, costumed historical reenactments, historic crafts, militia cannon firings, and children’s activities. July Events in Wine Country

The weather is warming up and summer is here so it is time to get out and explore all that Wine Country has to offer.   Of course, Independence Day gets the highlight this month but there are other exciting and entertaining venues the whole family can enjoy this July.

Fireworks Over Bodega Bay (July 2)
Get a jump on Independence Day as Saturday night comes alive at the Sonoma Coast.  The spectacular, free firework display over the water is produced by Pyro Spectaculars and will start at dark (9:30PM) on Saturday, July 2.  The display can be seen from all around Bodega Bay.  More information can be found here.

Windsor Kaboom Independence Day (July 3)
Join the Town of Windsor as they celebrate our nation’s Independence Day on July 3 at Keiser Park in Windsor. With musical performances from McKenna Faith and Foreverland and all the food and fun your family could ask for, it’s the fireworks event you don’t want to miss! More information can be found here.

Small Town Family Fun on the 4th (Kenwood & Healdsburg)
Join the fun of an Independence Day parade as it marches through the cozy community of Kenwood.  The event showcases classic vehicles, music, bicycles, Uncle Sam and even well-dressed pets.  Start the day with an early 7AM pancake breakfast and/or a 7:30AM Kenwood 3k-10k Footrace. The Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. and the route encircles Plaza Park. There will be a Rotary Club BBQ and Family Fun starting at Kenwood Plaza Park at 11:30AM. More information can be found here.

Enjoy the feel of small town America as friends and family gather on the Healdsburg High School Football Field. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics for a day of family fun which ends with a 40-minute fireworks show beginning at dusk.

All American Zin Day (Healdsburg – July 2)
Celebrate Independence Day at The 10th Annual All American Zin Day with some of the best Dry Creek Valley Zins along with great food.  Participating wineries include Kokomo, Mazzocco, Rued and Wilson Wineries. More information can be found here.

Cline Cellars Wine and Dixieland Jazz Festival (Sonoma – July 9)
Spend a summer’s day enjoying music by bands like Black Diamond Blue Five and the Jambalaya Big Swing Band while enjoying a glass of fine wine.  Wine, beer, and food are available for purchase and guests are welcome to bring a picnic. Fort Ross Festival (July 30)
This annual celebration showcases the rich and diverse culture of the region and features costumed historical re-enactments, historic crafts, music, dance as well as a multicultural food court, beer garden and more. More information can be found here.
