Fall has arrived. The temperatures are cooling as we say “goodbye” to summer and “hello” to the harvest season. From Oktoberfests to Art Trails, fall festivals to half marathons, there is something for everyone to enjoy during the month of October.
Oktoberfest at Schug Winery (October 1)
Enjoy Oktoberfest in Wine Country. Join Schug Winery for a festive day in Carneros as they celebrate this year’s grape harvest! Enjoy current release wines along with a few gems from the cellar and dine upon German food crafted by Chef Kristine Schug. Enjoy live music, enter raffles for adults and children, play the Bean Bag Toss, and check out the Photo Booth. Children can get a free pumpkin and play at the arts and crafts table. Sonoma County Art Trails (October 8-9, 15-16)
For two weekends in October, enjoy the abundance of creative talent Sonoma County has to offer by visiting the professional studios of the Art Trails artists. Along scenic corridors and country roads, visit the working studios which will be open to the public 10am to 5pm on each of those four days. More information can be found here.
Tolay Fall Festival (October 15-16, 22-23)
The Tolay Fall Festival offers two weekends of seasonal family fun at beautiful Tolay Lake Regional Park east of Petaluma. Enjoy a hay ride to a giant pumpkin patch and explore a historic barn full of live snakes, spiders, birds of prey, and tide pool animals. Find your way through a straw maze, try farm crafts activities like candle-dipping and make corn husk dolls. Kids will also enjoy petting the farm animals. More information can be found here.
American Grown Field to Vase Dinner: Sunset at Cornerstone (October 16)
Experience the new home of Sunset Magazine’s test garden at Cornerstone in Sonoma. Field to Vase Dinner guests are in for a treat, as Sunset garden editor, Johanna Silver, plays host to the special few in attendance. This extra-special Field to Vase Dinner will be held among the rows of flowers and foliage that make up Sunset’s test garden. Guests will dine on a menu full of fresh-picked food from the garden and other local farms. More information can be found here.
Pinot on the River (October 23)
Pinot on the River is a celebration of Pinot Noir, held in the beautiful town of Healdsburg. Sit with the winemakers and other Pinot-loving consumers and enjoy limited production West Coast wines. The Pinot Noir Grand Tasting will boast over 100 wineries plus guest Artisan Food Vendors all on the downtown Healdsburg Plaza Square. More information can be found here.
Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon (October 29)
Run through the renowned Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys in late October when the weather is ideal and the autumn-colored vineyards glow in the warm sunshine. This visually stunning course starts at Virginia Dare Winery and finishes on the expansive grounds of Trentadue Winery for the post-race Wine + Music Festival, presented by Alaska Airlines. Enter the costume contest, win wine awards for your age group, and enjoy wine-tasting, food, beer, exhibitors, live music and more! A 5K is also offered. More information can be found here.
Halloween Trick or Treat Trail (October 31)
Join the fun as Historic Downtown Petaluma transforms into a fun and safe Halloween for the entire family. Prepare for a frightening good time as 60 participating merchants partake in a little seasonal haunting from 3 – 5:30 p.m. as the scary, the cute and the creepy descend on this charming downtown!
